Suddenly it’s that time again, when we realise we’ve had several wonderful weeks with our sketching buddies and tutor. Some students say they come to sketching because of the friends they’ve made, and it’s the best day of the week.

Week 8 Term 3. Flowers & Tranquility
Tables were covered from one end to the other in glorious blooms. Beautiful specimens, large and small, delicate and bold. Everyone was smiling. Flowers bring beauty and wonder and a feeling of wellbeing.

This was a week to look at all things shiny, glittery, reflective, polished, see though and all.
Here's where your observation becomes finely tuned as you look for the colours which make it appear that way.
What colours do you see? 50 shades of grey or a 50 hues of colour.

Week 4 Term 3. Storytelling in Glass
We were immersed in colour this week. For some it was first watercolours in nature, for another group it was the colour in early architecture, and for others the rich colours of stained glass.

Sketching by the sea was where we all were this week. From Rose Bay, Balmain and Manly everyone was slopping on the colours of the sea.

Intro sketchers were looking at discovering those hibiscus and fruit shapes and seeing how they interconnect. Early days but the sketches are certainly happening. Travel Sketching students were looking at what tricks and techniques could be applied to architecture.

Week 5 Term 2. Sketching Under the Influence.
This is our 5th week for Travel Sketchers looking at the influence of well known international sketchers. We were looking Veronica Lawlor, a US based sketcher/illustrator/mixed media artist and her use of strong line, pattern and design.
