Naples, Italy, is a dream for sketch artists.

Our Tour organisers live in Naples and knows every nook and cranny.
Amalfi Coast has strings of picturesque and delightful seaside coastal towns you can look down on from high above.
With its charming architecture, dramatic cliffs, azure sea, traditional fishing boats and narrow streets, it's a place where you'll find endless inspiration for your sketches. The hand painted ceramics are world famous.
My favourites have chickens or donkeys on them!!

We do quite a bit of walking as you can imagine so do make sure you’re up for it.
Although we’re mainly sketching, we like to discover quiet fascinating little out of the way corners, intriguing little art and creative shops, particularly the brightly painted ceramics, and good little bistros for a coffee and nibble or lunch.

Erin Hill and Milton Hill will be working together with our very knowledgable organiser and sketcher Christiane White, originally from California, and Sebastiano Giubilo, the man behind the scenes, born and bred in Naples - to make this a very personal and unique tour.
It means we can more easily tailor our week to the things you’d most like to do.

WHO IS IT FOR:
Anybody who’d love to learn travel sketching and drawing, using simple color or simply to polish up their drawing skills, loves the idea of sketching, exploring and living like a local in our Italian neighbourhoods. Then this tour is for you.
No experience required, just a desire to sketch.
Let’s make sure we are reasonably fit as Italy has lots of cobbled surfaces, steps and steep bridges.

ITINERARY:
Here’s the itinerary for the moment. Although at times we may need to change the order of things. There is sooo much to see and sketch. 😀
DAY 1. Monday May 19th. Naples
Arrive at the hotel in the afternoon. Please advise your flight arrival time (and departure time)
Drinks in the lounge at 6.00pm and we’ll chat about our week ahead.
DAY 2. Tuesday May 20th. Naples
We’ll get together after breakfast at our hotel - as we’ll do each morning - and get to know our sketch kit - and each other.
In the garden we’ll begin our first Still Life with step by step demos with Erin. After lunch we have an option. you may relax at the hotel and sketch one of the classic Roman style trees. I’ll show you how. Or for those who’d like a quiet explore, we’ll sketch our tree at the nearby Royal Forest of Capodimonte, the former hunting grounds and palace of King Charles of Bourbon.

DAY 3. Wednesday May 21st. Naples
Our first visit into the exciting town of Naples.
Christiane our Organiser will take us through the winding alleyways to see and feel the energy of this ancient city.
We’ll be finding a gorgeous little cafe where we can sit and have coffee and special Naples treats,
and we can sketch the old buildings right there.
After lunch we’ll take a look at one of the oldest squares in Naples and sketch a few small vignettes
In the afternoon we’ll head back home for an afternoon Pizza making class.
DAY 4. Thursday May 22nd. Amalfi
Today we’re going sketching in the gorgeous steep little village of Cetara on the Amalfi Coast.
The fishing boats are moored in the bay, and that’s where we’ll head.
Over coffee nearby we can apply our colour.
At lunch you may like to try the local seafood specialties fresh from the sea.
In the afternoon we’ll head back home and relax.
DAY 5. Friday May 23rd. Naples
Today we’ll be visiting the magnificent Chiostro di Santa Chiara.
The cloister features a unique blend of Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque architectural styles. Filled with covered arcades, gardens and lemon trees and adorned with absolutely gorgeous frescos and vibrant majolica tiles. That makes it one of the most sketchable must see spots in Naples.
After lunch you may like to explore and shop. Christiane will have maps for you and where to meet for pickup
DAY 6. Saturday May 24th. Amalfi
One of the most spectacular gardens you’ll ever see are the Villa Cimbrone Gardens dating from at least the 11th century, and much altered in the 20th century by the English Lord Grimthorpe.
The views of hideaways and secret corners are wonderful and sketching is and absolute joy.
This is a marvellous chance to see the hanging tomato gardens the locals farm on the steepest hillsides.
DAY 7. Sunday May 25th. Amalfi
One of the best towns to immerse yourself in the colourful and unique ceramics made here on the Amalfi Coast is Vietri.
Wonderful winding streets of every kind of jug, vase, dishes and gift items are found in every store. Even the street numbers have the donkey as their motif.
Back to our hotel to relax and chat about all that we’ve done this week.

DAY 8. Monday May 26th. Naples
After breakfast we’ll say our fond farewells and promise to keep in touch with each other.
Your transport will take you to the airport in time for your departure.
