USK BOSTON WORKSHOPs 2023
Join me, Erin Hill in an Urban Travel Sketch Workshop while I’m in Boston.
If you’re new to sketching or out of practice, this is perfect for you.
I’ve designed this Workshop because I hear so often that people are confused by where to start with color.
I use very few colors in my sketches so that simplifies the color issues.
So let’s start at the beginning and go from there.
Here are two very worthwhile Workshops to begin.
There may be others we can plan.

Meet Erin Hill
Owner Founder. Erin Hill Sketching
Travel Sketching has been my particular passion for more than two decades. In my former life I was an Advertising art director who then became a gallery owner.
Now as an International Sketch Tutor and Urban Sketcher, I enjoy taking sketchers from their early moments with a sketchbook and pen to pride and astonishment at the sketching result they achieve. Away from classes and workshops I’ve created Online Email classes covering many of my tips and techniques. (and seem to have gained a considerable social media following).
My particular skill lies in the ability to break down into deceptively simple steps the way the eye works with the hand to produce a sketch image. Experienced and new sketchers alike benefit from an improved understanding of seeing and by the use of matching techniques. I look forward to you joining me soon.
Format
‘Seeing Shapes in Travel Sketching’ and ‘Planning Your Sketch’
We’ll be planning our page looking at the main shapes in our still life warm up subject. We’ll start with Aquarelle pencils and learn my technique for layering colour. These are the same as my watercolours so you’ll see how they work together.
You'll see how leaving whites and pushing darks creates dimension.
‘For the love of Trees in your Sketch’
We will begin to take a look at objects around which you’ll often need in your sketches. Trees and nature are often used, so lets take a look at getting a loose and sketchy variety of them.
‘Getting to Grips with Watercolour.’
Once we have our sketch, we’ll start with where to put watercolour, and create focus. How much water to add, and how to let your colours come together on the page
We’ll do a location sketch and apply watercolour and watch the colours ‘bloom.’
You’ll love the results.
