ITINERARY
We will be taken on a personalised, guided tour of the Barossa Valley over the 3 days, going to different sketch locations every day.
The fact that we will sketch, eat, drink, and laugh all weekend goes without saying!
Thursday 16th October
Arrival day for those traveling interstate.
Bus transfer to the Barossa Valley will leave the Adelaide Airport at 2pm.
Please ensure that your flight has arrived before this time as there will only be one pick up with the bus.
Tricia will arrange a Welcome Dinner tonight in a local restaurant or pub,
so that we can get to know our fellow Sketchers.
•
Friday 17th October
We will visit two vineyards to sketch, wine taste, eat magnificent food and sketch some more!
Last year we had the pleasure of lingering at the glorious Pindarie Wines
where sheep graze amongst 120-year-old olive trees.
The cellar door itself is housed in an old grain store and heritage stables.
Picture recycled materials, old tin roofs and wide verandahs.
After a long lunch at Pindarie we will be driven to Peter Lehmann Winery
to possibly sketch the Hoffmann Cellar which was built in the 1880’s
or perhaps settle on one of the picnic tables under the red gum trees to find our perfect sketching scene.
•
Saturday 18th October
We will be taken to Maggie Beers Farm & Café for a delicious morning tea
and to ease into our sketching for the day.
At Maggie Beers we can sit on the deck in the sun as we sketch Turtle Lake.
It’s a glorious place to unwind and breathe in that fresh country air and of course we don’t want to leave without purchasing some Maggie Beer produce or gifts.
For lunch today we will head over to Seppeltsfield Winery
to sketch vine-covered buildings or the vineyard itself with rows of grapevines over rolling hills.
After lunch there will be time to browse the onsite galleries, the Jam Factory & Dragon Fine Art.
Once again, our bus will deliver us back to Tanunda in the late afternoon.
For those that wish, we can re-group on Friday & Saturday nights, to eat dinner together at recommended restaurants or pubs within walking distance of our accommodation.
•
Sunday 19th October
We will sketch in the quaint little town of Tanunda this morning,
as we wander down the main street.
With time to grab a coffee, we will sketch some gorgeous old buildings or perhaps the local church,
soak in the atmosphere, and maybe buy that special little something in a local shop.
One final lunch together in a local café will wrap up our wonderful weekend of sketching, wine tasting and having a few laughs with our new friends.
If time permits, we will make a quick stop at the famous Barossa Valley Chocolate Company
on our way back to the Adelaide Airport for our interstate flights home.
We recommend booking return flights that leave from 3pm onwards.

SKETCH KIT:
You will only need the colours that Erin Hill uses, or similar.
https://erinhillsketching.com/the-sketch-kit
Any size sketch book you like – but I recommend following Erin’s suggestions in the sketch kit link above.
We don’t need many sketch materials to create a loose, fun, bright sketch of the places that we see.
