Week 6 Term 4. Creating Mood & Character

Our sketches now are filled with confidence and character.
This week we covered a huge variety of subjects which you really immersed yourselves in.

Intro classes were coming to grips with ‘People, faces and figures’. Our very simple approach to this with ‘sausage people’ and the mannequins make proportions so much easier to understand. Then when you begin to sketch your class mates in 30secs or so, you see the character coming through.

Another group were studying eye level perspective on a lovely old sandstone building. Again our simple graph does help with what goes up and what comes down.

Adventure class were urban sketching the fascinating Mortuary Railway Station with it’s symbolism and locked gates! Moody and brooding.

Travel Sketching classes were creating mood either haunted or fantasy upon a particular mansion we chose. Whatever happened beyond those doors!!! One even has bats flying!
