Time to hit New York again

Time to hit New York.

First sketch done even as we are heading to New York. New York.
How many’s songs have been written about this town. How many sketches have been done!

Well we are about to add a few more sketches to the many done before us. Ours will be quick impressions with my classic one color over another to get bright upbeat results. And we do.

New York never disappoints. In fact if you’d had your head in the clouds for the past two years you might never have known anything had happened.

People are very respectful I findd. Mostly wearing masks in crowded places and do try to distance from who’s nearby.

Around the Lincoln Centre where we are staying things are as busy. Nobody is uptight when you have to double triple park to drop your luggage at the hotel. People smile. They move on.

Central Park is glorious right now. The Spring buds are create brilliant Sap Green swathes, with a touch of Hookers Green in the shadows. Squirrels dart, chipmunks dash, folks saunter with their dogs, some rest on a park bench enjoying a moment.

Milton and I head for Greenwich Village on the west side of lower Manhattan. Our Workshop will be here. Still gentrified with lovely tree lined streets where residents plant petunias and pansies on the sidewalk. Local cafes arrange tables and seating along pavements with enticing menus and cuisines. The aroma of coffee wafts. Children play in the street while Moms chat. There’s a lovely vibe.

We arrive early on Workshop day and sit street side at Pasticceria Rocco, Italian bakery. The coffee is just stunning. I try to make it last. Mmm. The croissant is freshly baked. I’m in heaven.

We meet outside St Luke in the Fields just a street away from the cafe and chat to those already here to begin our Workshop. A secret garden.

The green gate is unlocked by someone we never do see but we’re delighted to step inside.
What a find. ( Our Aussie neighbour knew about it.)

Who’d expect to discover a secret garden with beautiful trees flowers and foliage in the middle of busy New York. The corner church own it and have nurtured it for years for locals to find a place of peace.
We’re very happy to have our ‘One Color at a Time’ Watercolor Workshop here.

Everyone loves it and follow my step by step demos so keenly. The results are really exciting to see. I love it when people have their own style and incorporate new ways into that.

Terrific results and we are all so very pleased. Time for lunch and some socialising in a nearby cafe.

I’m very fond of Greenwich Village and my next years Workshops will be here.

Another lovely moment is a meetup with our Australian neighbor just before she returns to Aus. There we are with our Camomile Tea watching the after-work yoga event they hold at Bryant Park. I’m sure there are 200 folks doing ‘Salute to the Sun’.

Brings back memories of my dear Mosman Yoga buddies. Things like that happen when you’re away!

Enough for now. Next up. USk Westchester Workshop.
