Water & Boats, Fruit, Flowers & Teapots

Teapots in the Gazebo.

Teapots in the Gazebo.

Another really odd week. We are all in this and everyone is feeling upside down. You’re not alone.

But let’s celebrate the little things we CAN do.
Don’t you remember in the days before all this, when you were so flat out busy, and saying to yourself ‘I dream of the day when I have time to do what I like!’
Well guess what. That day is here.
Make the most of it. Every day is important so don’t waste a minute of it.

Sketching of course is our saviour. Luckily here in Tweed Rivers we can be together. Across the border in Queensland it’s lockdown. Greater Sydney is in lockdown. It prolly is in other states but I’ve lost track.
It’s like that now. Oh when will it end!!

But I’m so grateful for sketching and the sanity it brings.

Urban Sketchers is one of the loves of my life - apart from you know who!
However my group is the Gold coast chapter - can’t go there.
So - not to be left out, We we’ve created a little group of NSW members who can meet this side of the border. We had such a fabulous time on a glorious Sunday, at Tweed Marina. Starting with an excellent caffein and a huge selection of boats, trawlers, trees and buildings and more. heaven on a stick.

Honestly, do look for an Urban Sketchers group near you and join. No cost and everyone sketching or painting happily for a few hours. It could save your sanity.
Scroll down this huge list and see where you’ll find a group near you. Oceana if you’re are in Oz.

In Bundanoon Gaye had a Monday morning class and was able to have her students at home. She did wonders with her students during the morning. For folks who had little experience you’ll see what she had them doing. Very happy results.

Wednesday was our Bangalow sketch day - at Kingscliff - doing direct watercolour sketching of petunias. That means no black line drawing to start. Instead just indicate your sketch in a wash of one colour. Now you can throw the paint on. Who knows what will happen! So much fun. We tossed a bit of purple and pink paint around - couldn’t stop!! They do look like petunias thank goodness.

Friday was our Kingscliff sketch class - starting with coffee upstairs - then down to the Gazebo to complete our teapot sketches. Piece by piece we got all the shapes in then did the decorative patterns. finishing with Posca pen highlights. Happiness all round.

Quite a good week considering how many of our classes are on hold. Watson’s Bay, Mosman, Surfers Paradise and Melbourne are all on hold but will certainly be back as soon as poss.
