When we stop and smell the roses - or any little bloom - we are connecting with it. It’s so nice.
You can even have a chat with it and tell it how beautiful it is, and how amazing it’s little petals are - or what stunning stamens it has. I do.
I have a chat with the birds in the park, little insects, even the sea. ‘Come on, I dare you to come right up to my toes’ - and it does. All takes my mind off what’s going on out there.!!

That’s what we sketchers are doing anyway. In order to sketch something we have to get to know it well. To really observe how it’s made. Such wonder. Often unnoticed until you pick it up and study it.

We’ve been doing a lot more of that these days while we’re restricted in ways we haven’t been before.
The subjects around you suddenly become much more of a focus. We’re more used to going out somewhere to sketch with friends, but sketching at home is a great option. Just takes a minute to get your headspace round it.

Classes this week again have been on hold but there has still been plenty of sketching going on in other ways.

Our class was postponed due to Covid, but take a look at the homework our students did.
One student has a broken hand so hers was all done with there other hand. Amazing what she can now do!
Looks like we’ll miss next week too. Oh well more sketches from home for all of us.
