A little Bit of Perspective, Funny People and Green things
Wednesday is Bangalow day. I’m certain that someone up there knows I’m hitting the road and sends down the rain. Just Wednesdays.
Our group had a really good day anyway, as we started at a cafe, sketching a box. Yes a box. Easy! Not really. It’s perspective.
Luckily Bangalow is a town full of verandahs so we can always find a dry spot to do our eye level perspective buildings. Folks were cold so we hurried round to ButcherBaker and warmed up with coffee and quiche. Loved it. Cosy and warm inside, rainy and cold outside.
Friday is Kingscliff Workshop day. We always seem to score great weather for these. We sit together in the shelter areas with a good sized table, and this week we had tea, coffee and French macarons for getting us in the mood. Funny people doing things - or was it the other way round!
Sketching in 20 seconds or so seems impossible. But it really gets you seeing the shapes and angles without any fuss. Every sketch was full of character and tossing colour on really brought them to life.
Every second Saturday is Urban Sketchers Gold Coast day.
What utterly marvellous weather we got today. Deep blue skies, sparkling water, rich green foliage blended with reds and yellows.
We were privileged to have Kate Heffernan the designer and creator of the gardens to give a quick overview of the gardens story. Certainly helps give context.
We laughed about the weather, cos it rains on alternate Saturdays when we’re not sketching!
When we all met up at the cafe after the event, we had a gorgeous collection of sketches and paintings showing the variety of views one can choose here. Unending choice really.
Let’s take a look at the sketches.
