What Goes Up Sometimes Goes Down

Steps going up

Steps. Not something we give much thought to until you’re asked to sketch them.
The first thing is to establish is the shape of the steps and which they’re going. Up or down.
For our class in Bangalow this week we did both. It’s all in the seeing as it turns out.
Lots of silences while the angles were worked out and thumbnails proved essential. Then onto our pre coloured pages we went. Got it. They were working, even if we had to turn them upside down! Oh the stress. Whew.

In Bundanoon this week Gaye’s students were able to have another lesson, having been cut short with lockdowns and the like. But they’re picking up fast and covering a lot with round objects, tree forms and flower still life setups. Great to see you back.

Urban Sketchers this week was in Tumbulgum by the mighty Tweed River. All seems very quiet as you sit there with the group having coffee, and you slowly realise all sorts of things are happening. A great sketch location and we will return.
