A workshop for Gold Coast
Urban Sketchers members

Because some of our members have missed out on the fully booked official Travel Sketching Workshops being held in early 2026,
we’ve agreed that I might run a
One Day Workshop privately.
(You do need to be a member of Gold Coast Urban Sketchers)
If you’d be interested do book in. All info below.

Morning 10.00am - 12.30pm
•I’ll begin by explaining why my Travel Sketching techniques may be new for you, and why I keep everything so minimal.
•We will try a few fun exercises to get our eye seeing only what we want.
•We will learn my one colour at a time techniques, which we use for both Aquarelle pencil and for watercolours.
•I’ll be showing you all my simple tricks using each item in the sketch kit and the magic they can do.

Lunch - 12.30pm - 1.00pm
There is an excellent selection of food on the menu, and wine is available

Afternoon: 1.00pm - 4.00pm
We will learn to look for composition in what may look like an ordinary scene.
We’ll spend time looking for the view we will settle on and what will be the focus.
I will be working with you doing thumbnail planning sketches, to help you see what you want and don’t want, before committing.
Here’s where the techniques from yesterday will come into play, particularly colour.
We’re here to have fun and enjoyment. That’s more important than anything.

Tea and coffee available any time.
Parking: Plenty of free street parking around the venue. Check the signs for time limits etc.
