Boston and first sketches with USk

Hardly off the plane from Australia and I was sketching with USk Boston.

It was pretty chilly when we first arrived in Boston on May 5th 2022.
Luckily we had left a puffer jacket at our daughter’s home when we were last here - two years ago. Seen being worn stylishly above!!
Knowing that there was an Urban Sketchers event coming up the next Saturday May 8th - I was ready for whatever the weather threw at us.
Now that we are based in Natick a beautiful New England town about 40mins east of Boston itself, we worked out the trains needed to get to Harvard Square.
So lovely being back in the burg I was familiar with back then.
Such a really friendly group of sketchers turned up and we all found a spot to sketch this Civil War monument which was pretty much the dominant thing in front of us.
As you can see there are very few leaves on the trees, just tiny sprigs of green beginning. It’s Spring here, and we just escaped Winter in Australia.
I always love meeting sketchers anyway. We have a bond already!
Freezing little hands although it looks sunny in the pics. Managed to get this one done in the time we had.
So nice to warm up afterwards with coffee and hot chocolate at the very cosy Capital One Cafe with Jasmine, Rachel and Milton.
The sketch I did on the train coming into Boston is below. Aquarelle pencil.

More of our travels coming.
