A little bit French.
BANGALOW.
We had quite another subject in mind for Bangalow this week, but when realising it was Bastille Day in France, that was the end of that.
Brings back such lovely memories of the ceremonies and celebrations in our tiny village of Trausse Minervois in the wine growing region of Languedoc.
We would now be sketching a beautiful bottle of Rose (‘The Old Farm’ made near Lyon) with a couple of fancy glasses, and a friand or two popped in. They were yum by the way.
Such a lovely morning observing elipses and transparent colour.
The other sketch of the day was a stack of French mugs, again looking at ovals and elipses plus colour on each mug and keeping dimension with whites top and sides.
Such bright colour today and nothing makes us happier.

URBAN SKETCHERS GOLD COAST.
Of which I am part of the dedicated Admin team, and was thrilled to be sketching near a well known location for me. It’s where we began our Gold Coast Sketch classes last year. Blackboard cafe was our studio for warm up sketches. Loved it there. So lovely to be back again.
My word, Bond University is a massive and very impressive campus. We met near one of the million carparks and did a wander about to see where we’d like to sketch. Huge choice.
Some of us decided on a set of 3 rusted sculptures looking along a tree lined walkway, which was a good one to start and get your eye in for perspective. That went well and then onto a second entirely different sketch - looking through the campus grounds, down past a new shiny memorial sculpture and out beyond to the water.
Of course we all were very keen after that for coffee and lunch so we masked up and enjoyed some chat time at Boardwalk cafe.
MOSMAN Intro classes with Kirsten have once again been put on hold due to Covid restrictions. Waaaaa.😩
But Kirsten will not be deterred and will continue her very professional Zoom classes to keep everyone together during this very difficult time.
AN EASY ONE FOR SKETCHING AT HOME.
I’ve chosen a very enjoyable and totally stress free subject for you to sketch at home. You’ll see how to go about that below. Do remember the mantra ‘There’s no right or wrong. It’s just lines on paper’
I have also created more Sketching at home ideas in the previous Blog. It’s all about sketching at home. The subjects are everyday ideas, from your coffee and nibbles, pot plants on the coffee table, the bookcases, chairs and sofas, cat in the window. The artists I’ve picked work in a very simple way, using a number of mediums and colours. Also a great chance to get out your favourite art books for ideas.
Have fun with seeing your own home and garden as sketch subjects. It’s all there for you to discover. Post on our Facebook to inspire us all.🌿

EASY SUBJECT FOR SKETCHING AT HOME
One of our favourite sketch subjects is ‘Found Items in Nature’. What’s fun is that everyone can find a few bits and pieces lying around in the garden, the park or wherever there are trees. Pick up seed pods, leaves, feathers, twigs or anything that appeals.
Arrange them on a table and get sketching.
Try to keep the pen on the page as you sketch each item so that its loose and free form.
Make the items any colours you like using water colours or aquarelles or both together.
Finish off with added texture using your white Posca pen.
Absolutely no stress required and make sure you say only positive things to yourself😁
Do share in our Facebook. Keep safe and healthy.
