A week at Daku Resort, Savusavu Fiji. Oct 2019

This is the best tour I know to have at the end of a busy year. Nothing better than the calm and smiling Fijian people to help you step away from the hurley burley we all seem caught up in and take you to paradise.

Such a gorgeous week with very good weather and only a drop or two of rain when we were safely under cover. Our fully booked tour was filled with the loveliest people who very soon knew each other and could easily spend time chatting about whatever. It’s lovely to see everyone equally included no matter where they come from.

Every day we’d start with a delicious breakfast and be ready for the start of our morning sketch class. The yoga shala - up all those steps was ideal. Our Studio in the sky. I like to arrange my studio in a way where everyone can see and hear what’s being said. Of course I’m happy to wander around to be sure.
The lovely girls who are on staff at Daku would make sure the water was hot and our cups ready for our 10.00AM tea or coffee. They also realised that we do like a little ‘something’ to go with it. Lemon or chocolate cake, brownies or almond biscuits would be demolished in no time.

Our days were planned to have alternate busy days and quieter ones. That meant there was time to shop, go snorkelling, or just lie on a deck chair. It was definitely hot so this made sense.

You’ll see below a wonderful collection of sketch moments and outings. We all loved every bit of it and round the big dinner table at night we’d chat about what we’d seen and how we admired the family culture of Fiji and the ‘no stress’ approach to life. We all came away with hopes of keeping those feelings as long as possible.

Enjoy this tour, our 4th now, and do get in touch if you’d like to reward yourself with an amazing week here in Sept/Oct 2021. Our 5th tour.

On with the show……

Another glorious day……people sketching and the Markets

And another day starting at the beach and a later visit to the Chocolate Farm

Copra Shed Cafe for boats and reflections. ‘Other hand’ sketching. Visiting a local village and the Vuadomo Waterfall.

Welcome ceremony and entertainment at Naida Village

And it’s time to end a wonderful week. Thank you to all our students for being so willing to get loose and throw some colour around. I’m so proud of everyone. See you all soon. Isa Lei.
