Who:
For students with or without experience.
I’ll work at whatever level you’re at, from those with experience looking to simplify their work to those who’ve never had a drawing lesson in their life!
Learn the foundations of Travel Sketching to tell your own sketching stories.
You’ll soon relax - no more worry about every detail - we’re not looking for perfect.
Rather than a drawing, we’re creating a loose impression of what we see, in your own way, in the time we have.
Your sketchbook will become a journal of whatever we do and you’ll see much progress over the week.

What:
Learn to sketch what you see around you on location, rather than from photos or reference. Our sketchbooks are just for us to enjoy and to sketch an impression of whatever takes our fancy.
Might be a 5 minute one or a longer one.
This is a wonderful way to learn to sketch and immerse yourself in a relaxed and totally enjoyable day.
Enjoying the process is almost more important than the end results.
I work with you step by step observing our subject and getting your sketch down in a simple way.
We’ll use just two mediums, aquarelle pencil or watercolours. We use a minimal sketch kit so that it’s all in your shoulder bag, ready anytime.
Subjects range from streetscapes, people in cafes, castles and historic buildings, water scenes
and sometimes just the details of things.

Where:
We will begin after breakfast with a coffee and a warmup sketch, either at our hotel or in a cafe nearby.
We’ll chat and about tips and techniques we’ll be using then off we’ll go and sketch.
