For our 2nd week students were learning much about whites and darks and colour . Where to leave lights. Where to focus darks. Sea and sky using playful colour. What colours make other colours. All part of observing.
New Sketchers we’re looking at round objects and learning about keeping ‘whites’. It’s free. Why colour it all in! Some very beautiful results here followed by a little nature walk. Trees. We showed how to observe their shapes and apply layers of colour using just 3 colours for trunks and 3 colours for leaves. Such lovely results.
General sketchers had some real fun with sea and sky and watercolours. No lifework, just paint. Lots of clouds and waves. Some warm morning colours. Some hot afternoon colours. Some clear blues, some inky blues. Let your colours merge and blend – with gorgeous results. Same idea for the sea. Sometimes rough. Sometimes calm. A boat placed somewhere. A church on the hill. All designed to let go of fear of colour. We work quickly so your paint does its own thing. Let it go. Let the accidents become your sketch. Make it our own. So freeing. No more fear. Look what you achieved. Great work again this week. We always surprise you. And you surprise us. Love it.
