Sunday 17th April – Friday 6 May 2016

Day 1 / RHODES (Sun. 17th) FREE DAY

Please book Greek Domestic flight from Athens to Rhodes,  Our hotel is situated in the centre of Rhodes Town within walking distance of all the fabulous shops, tavernas, cafes and famous sites.  The Old Town is a magical place to stroll with its medieval cobbled lanes including the impressive paved Street of the Knights, the Archaeological Museum, the Palace of the Grand Masters and the famous Hippocrates Square with its artists .Welcome sunset cocktails followed by optional group dinner.

Day 2/ KASTELLORIZO (Mon 18th)

Depart Rhodes 7:00. Arrive Kastellorizo 10:30.
We will be staying near the waterfront- with panoramic vistas overlooking the white-washed village, the sea & the beautiful mountains of Turkey in the distance.
Mandraki The lovely little harbour is lined with colourful fishing boats and tangled nets . With its’ cafes perched on the waters edge, it is the perfect spot for our sketching session !

Day 3/ KASTELLORIZO (Tues 19th )

Mandraki The backstreets are filled with meandering cobbled-stoned laneways, brightly painted wooden shutters and pots of scarlet geraniums.
Optional dinner at a seaside taverna – enjoy the super fresh catch of the day.

Day 4/ KASTELLORIZO (Wed 20th)

The Old Town above the harbour with it’s domed church and little taverna under shady trees is a magical spot to spend the day sketching, followed by an optional delicious home-cooked lunch under the trees in the village square.

Day 5/ KASTELLORIZO (Thurs 21st)

Mandraki, the Turkish minaret perched on the edge of the bay with the lush mountains of Turkey as a backdrop provides a great sketch subject.

Day 6/ SYMI (Fri. 22nd) FREE DAY

Depart Kastellorizio at 14:00 Arrive Symi at 18:00. Our hotel, in the heart of the Old Town with its panoramic vistas , is surrounded by endless painting & sketching subjects !

Day 7 / SYMI ( Sat.23rd)

Chora.The village square with its old traditional houses, stone walls covered in daisies, crumbling steps and shady pine trees is a wonderful spot for our sketching session !

Day 8/ SYMI ( Sun. 24th) )

Pedi. An idyllic fishing village set in a fertile valley with a small pebbly cove and lovely taverna.

Day 9/ SYMI (Mon. 25th)

Yialos. We will spend the morning sketching one of the most stunning harbours in Greece with its tiers of sugar – almond houses. Yialos is a beautiful village of faded elegance. Around its’ harbour stand ranks of tall, elegant mansions surrounded by hills dotted with needle pines. Optional night out at Georges Taverna for some authentic home-cooking !

Day 10/ KOS (Tues 26th)

Depart Symi 9:30. Arrive Kos 11:00 Transfer to our hotel on the waterfront within walking distance of all the fabulous sights. Kos ( the birthplace of Hippocrates ) is a blend of ancient sites, medieval fortifications , Turkish minarets ,florid Italian buildings & wonderful shops! Optional dinner at fabulous Avanti Restaurant – one of the most popular in Kos and right next door to our hotel !

Day 11/ KOS / KALYMNOS ( Wed. 27th) FREE DAY

Optional excursion to Turkey to visit the coastal town of Bodrum with its’ exotic restaurants and colourful bazaar – a shoppers paradise !!

Depart Kos 18:30 . Arrive Kalymnos 19:30. We are staying by the sea in the picturesque village of Myrties, its jetty lined with fishing boats, overlooking the stunning isles of Telendos.

Day 12/ KALYMNOS (Thur 28th )

Myrties. The view of the tiny jetty with its’ colourful boats is idyllic . Optional Greek night with live music & dancing.


Telendos. Departing from the small jetty of Myrties, we cross the narrow strait to this tiny tranquil isle , its waterfront lined with tavernas and bold yellow tangled fishing nets.

In the evening ,along the harbour,we witness the incredibly moving Good Friday procession  Beautiful epitaphs festooned with garlands of flowers are followed by a candle-lit procession

Day 14 /KALYMNOS( Sat 30th)

Vathy.  Descending into this fertile valley with its’ great groves of mandarins is an unforgettable sight as it also has one of the deepest and most beautiful natural harbours in the Aegean. The inlet is magical with its’ fishing boats, goats and white-washed churches.  Optional lunch under a vine overlooking the beautiful inlet.


You are invited to a lunchtime Greek Easter feast , followed by evening down by the harbour where the whole island gathers, parading along the waterfront. The cafes are spilling over with festivity and the mountains surrounding the town are a blaze of fireworks. Truly unforgettable!

DAY 16 / KALYMNOS (Mon 2nd)

Arginontas. Driving along the spectacular coastal road we pass wild thyme and oregano covered mountains leading to the deep inlet of Arginontas We set up in the olive grove to paint these ancient trees with their sinewy trunks and silver-flecked leaves. The family run taverna situated under a vine overlooking the beautiful inlet is the perfect lunch spot !

DAY 17 / KALYMNOS  (Tues 3rd)

Aghias Savas. The rich terra-cotta domes of this beautiful monastery, contrasted with the deep blues of the sky and sea is a scene to capture.

DAY 18 / KALYMNOS  (Wed 4th)

Emborios. Harrys taverna, set in the islands most beautiful garden with its pots of geraniums, roses, sprays of lavender , olive and fig trees will inspire us for our sketching session. Optional meze lunch( a variety of vegetarian appetizers ) in this exquisite garden setting

Day 19 / KALYMNOS (Thur 5th)

Pothia. The Archaeological Musuem is a must with its rich display of antiquituies-fabulous for Sketching. Pothia with its meandering backstreets is filled with colourful houses, shops and a lively waterfront filled with cafes and tavernas facing the sea. A great spot to people sketch. !

 ( afternoon critique) Farewell  cocktails.

Day 20 / DEPARTURE (Fri. 6th) Transfer to Kalymnos or Kos for return flight to Athens.

Flights are not included in the tour cost. You are responsible for booking international return flights to Athens and domestic flights to and from the islands, as stated in the itinerary. Flights may be booked independently through any travel agency or through our own travel agent associated with the tour .Please check for tour confirmation prior to flight payment.

Lunch and dinner are not included in the cost.

Meals with wine, salad and bread are approx. $15 – $20. In Kalymnos and a few other islands we stay in furnished studio apartments with kitchens and balcony seaviews.

The sketching itinerary may be subject to change depending on weather conditions. We begin each morning with some warm up sketches and techniques which we can try when  out on location. At the end of each day, all sketches are photographed as part of our Greek Island Sketch Holiday posting. You’ll be able to share this with your friends.

Sketching Kit – We do have a particular sketching kit. For travel sketching we use minimal materials in a very effective way. You don’t need anything extra. Bring a small portable stool if required. Please refer to the material list above and make sure you are well equipped for the art tour as it is extremely difficult to buy art materials on these islands.

If twin share is requested please note that you are responsible for sharing arrangements.

In order for tours to operate a minimum number of bookings is required. ( the majority of tours go ahead )

If the minimum number is not met, the tour may be cancelled with a full refund.

Various artists run different tours. Due to unforeseen circumstances, an artist may need to be substituted in order for the trip to proceed to avoid cancellation and disappointment.
In the unlikely event that this happens, you will be offered full refund if you decide to cancel.

Luggage. – You are advised to pack lightly as we travel by ferry to the other islands, and you are responsible for managing your luggage. Only minimal clothing is required as Greece is extremely casual, and you can wash and dry overnight.

Banks. A.T.M. outlets are situated on all these islands. Visa and mastercard are accepted in some shops, but it is basically a cash economy.

REMEMBER to pack sunblock, a hat, comfortable shoes with non-slip soles, a warm all- weather jacket , a small torch, and your cossi !(* a suggested packing list will be emailed to you )


Bookings – To confirm your reservation, a deposit of $500 is required to ensure your place on the tour. Final payment is required 90 days prior tour commencement. Details below.

Cancellations – Should you wish to cancel, a cancellation fee will be incurred as follows:

Within 15 days prior tour – 75% total land cost

Within 30-15 days prior tour – 50% total land cost

Within 45 – 30 days prior tour – 25% total land cost

Within 60 – 45 days prior tour – tour deposit

Within 90 – 60 days prior tour – 50% tour deposit

90 days or more prior tour – no cancellation fee.

EXTRA NIGHTS ACCOMMODATION . If you are extending your accommodation before or after the tour on the islands featured in the itinerary, the required payment for the extra nights can be paid directly to your host when you arrive in Greece .
