Virginia and I took the one and half hour trip for me to see my client there about an upcoming exhibition. The plan was to do some local sketches and work out painting subjects.
Kurrajong Village is at the base of one of two roads through the Blue Mountains. An idyllic little place, with a proud history and many of the residents are related to the founders of the area. This side of the mountains is popular for it’s apple orchards and a destination for people who like to pick their own, and for the little cafes, art & gift galleries all around.
Virginia and I popped into Sassafras Creek Cafe for a delicious lunch.
I hadn’t had coffee yet, so we tied Amelie and Gigi up to the pergola, gave them a bowl of water, and found ourselves a balcony table, overlooking the rolling green valley. How delicious was our lunch – yes coffee became lunch. Well I needed energy to begin sketching of course. Virginia had perfect mussels ( well she does, but I mean the ones from the sea, ) and I had a delicious wrap with middle eastern flavours.
Being now energised I began the Sassafras sketch, while Virginia took the dogs window shopping. The other two sketches done, are waiting for colour, so will post later. We had a gorgeous day out and it’s fab being able to enjoy ‘working’ as well. I feel very happy with my sketches.
