It's Karen's night
It’s Karen’s night. Tom & Pat with Karen.

What a great show. Karen is one of our sketchers, and had made mention that she’d had some work accepted at Raglan Gallery, one of the best galleries in Manly. Known for some excellent contemporary works, glass and ceramics. But that had been some time back.

Then she rang to say her work was in a ‘small paintings’ show opening on Friday night. Of course I’d go. This is a huge achievement. To have paintings accepted to start with and then to be actually hung.

A big crowd filled the space with chatter and catching up with others they knew. Sketcher Tom and his very nice wife Pat were in attendance, plus Karen’s son, also Tom,  who is soooo proud of her, plus essential supportive girlfriend Maret.

I was most interested to see these delightful square canvases of pure colour and composition. Usually we just see her sketches, which are very much the work of a colourist. Now we see the connection. Colour.

So it was a great pleasure to attend the opening and see the paintings of one of our sketchers.

Congratulations to you Karen from all our passionate sketchers. I  feel very proud that you’re one of us.
