Week 9 Term 3. Sept 17 ’16
Wow this term has gone quickly. New Sketchers and General were all tackling ‘people’ this week. We’ve made big people shapes on rolls of paper, we’ve thrown paint and crayon over them, we’ve made montages of moving people. We’ve sketched people in the Bavarian restaurant, on the Corso, at Manly Wharf, at the Manly Art Gallery. No one was safe. We loved every minute.
By now everybody is feeling pretty confident about what they’ve achieved in the previous 9 weeks. Most (if not traveling,) will be back in Term 4 to continue this wonderful journey of self discovery.
The idea of being able to sketch, in a short time and have the joy that it brings is a fabulous feeling. No pressure to get it ‘right’ – because it doesn’t matter. It’s your impression of what you saw. Your class mates are just as excited as you are when you share your work. Your tutors are feeling elated too. For us to see how you’ve progressed is our reward. Thank you to you all for giving us great results. We look forward to Week 10 either at Little Manly Beach or at the Tea Cosy tearooms in The Rocks next week.

Our last class for Term 3 saw us at a different location we met at Caffee Panette opposite South Melbourne market. A burst of winter with a torrential downpour keeping us at the cafe but what a location. We were so excited seeing people with umbrellas .
So much to sketch in such a short time and so much to choose from incorporating a full terms learning- lots of fun and seeing how far everyone had come is just amazing with lots of encouragement from a small but really enthusiastic group. Look forward to seeing you all next term. Warm regards, Jeanette
EHS Tokyo
Atsuko is doing a very thorough job talking to business and hotel people and tour organisers. She’s learning a great deal about the demographic she’s after. Tokyo has more people than 13 million people. We hope they don’t all want to come sketching at the same time!
EHS South of France
Our tutor is currently in Provence and working through the programs for EHS New Sketchers. Its looking very promising, but like Atsuko in Tokyo, you need to do your homework first.
