I have decided to do my ‘Snow’ series of sketches, because I’m constantly amazed how many searches there are on my site for this subject. And – because the snow on my posts looks great on these!

For me of course, this is the summer. Hot days, sunburn, balmy evenings, far too many parties. And we have Oprah! How’bout that. What more could you ask for!

We were in Tahoe this time last year, and I began a few drawings to see how they turned out. Not that we don’t have a little snow in parts of Australia and New Zealand, but I hadn’t had a chance to draw or paint it. I found it very challenging. White is not white. It’s every little bit of blue, aqua, violet and more.

I had just 3 which I quite liked so here they are.

The first one was when the snow flakes were drifting down, and I spotted this lovely little chap rushing from tree to tree. Now did he have a store of nuts somewhere, or was he a last minute kinda guy. You know, like the people who leave their Christmas shopping till Dec 24.

The second one was done late in the day when skiing was over, and these two guys were trudging their weary way home. No doubt after an exhilarating day.

The third one was in a strange place to draw.We were waiting for our very grubby vehicle to go through the carwash, and behind there was a fabulous little creek with snow right up to the edge. There were fir trees as far as I could see and some kids on toboggans. Perfect for a sketch.

To make it easy I’m doing cards of these, and ‘one size’ unmounted prints. Easy to post. Easy to frame.
